Quad Biking
A Quad Bike, also known as an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) is a vehicle that travels on low-pressure tires, with a seat that is straddled by the operator, along with handlebars for steering control. As the name implies, it is designed to handle a wider variety of terrain than most other vehicles and is usually equipped with three (or typically, four) wheels. The rider sits on and operates these vehicles like a motorcycle, but the extra wheels give more stability at slower speeds.
A word of Precaution
Because you have driven a motorcycle or car, don't assume you will be able to ride a quad bike. They handle completely differently from a car or motorbike and can overturn easily. Their response can be sudden and if not controlled properly especially going uphill or downhill, you can find yourself underneath the bike very easily. Turning and cornering techniques also need to be mastered before you take the bike off road as there are special precautions that need to be taken before completing these manoeuvres.
Always wear proper protective clothing, helmet, gloves, eye protection, and appropriate footwear, preferably boots. If you have waterproof trousers it's a good idea to wear these as well as it can get a bit muddy. There is no law to say you must wear a helmet, but not doing so would mean taking an unwarranted risk, as your helmet is the only protection you have against serious head injury should you come off your bike.
Step Jet
A Step Jet is a device that literally allows you to 'walk on water'. Its hull design is a sophisticated form that is simple and elegant. Its hydrodynamic shape ensures a quiet, effortless and efficient glide. The large displacement hull features a wide track and fixed rudders that guarantees exceptional stability and accurate tracking.
Trekking
Trekking is a term that is often used for long-distance hiking. It is an outdoor activity which consists of walking in natural environments, often in mountainous or other scenic terrain. Usually meant for recreational purposes, trekking nevertheless have health benefits including, but are not limited to, losing excess weight, decreasing hypertension, and improving mental health.
La Vallée des 23 Couleurs offers you the opportunity of discovering its magnificent landscape that will make your journey memorable: mountains, waterfalls, ponds, indigenous fauna and flora, multi-coloured earth and a panoramic view of the South Coast of Mauritius.
Zipline
A zip-line, also known as a flying fox, foefie slide, zip wire, aerial runway, aerial ropeslide, death slide or Tyrolean crossing, consists of a pulley suspended on a cable mounted on an incline. It is designed to enable a user propelled by gravity to travel from the top to the bottom of the inclined cable, usually made of stainless steel, by holding on or attaching to the freely moving pulley.
Zip-lines come in many forms, most often used as a means of entertainment. They may be short and low, intended for child's play and found on some playgrounds. Longer and higher rides are often used as a means of accessing remote areas, such as a rainforest canopy. Zip-line tours are becoming popular vacation activities, found at outdoor adventure camps or upscale resorts, where they may be an element on a larger challenge or ropes course.
Coloured Earth
When volcanoes erupt, there is a high level of gas pressure, causing magma (molten rock deep within the Earth) to come to the surface. During the eruption, the cooling lava solidifies quickly and combines its chemical elements with silica structures into vitreous, small crystals. The chemical composition of basalt, ancient dark igneous rock, changes according to the conditions of the original magma (high pressure and high temperature gas saturation).
After the eruption, volcanic molten rock is exposed to surface conditions - low pressure oxidising atmosphere, a temperature of 25°C and the presence of liquid water. These surface conditions have a major impact on the mineral and chemical composition of the rock.
Waterfalls
Cascade Vacoas, Cascade Bois de Natte, Cascade Cheveux d'Ange and Cascade Chamouzé are the four superb waterfalls where visitors can listen to water rustling, relax in natural intimacy and feel inner peace.
